Remodelled and Decorated
This was a fairly typical 1930s property with multiple layers of wallpaper and paint and a whole host of issues hiding behind it all. Many modifications and repairs had been performed over the years leaving an ‘interesting’ array of skirting board and architrave sizes
Once we’d stripped all the wallpaper and removed the old skirting boards and woodwork, we were able to get to work on preparing the walls ready for plastering. This was a combination of bricking up the old fireplace, removing blown and cracked plaster and repair patching so we had a sound base.
We replaced the old radiator with a modern and more efficient convecting radiator and modified the pipework to suit. The main central heating pipes ran down next to the chimney breast so these were boxed in and hidden.
After the walls had been plastered/skimmed, we installed all new skirting boards, window board and architrave to give the room a fresher feel. We fitted coving to the ceiling and removed the old ‘eyeball’ style lights and replaced them with a single high output light fitting.
Once all that prep work was complete, we painted the ceiling, walls and woodwork and the transformation was complete!
